Continuous Support

Our commitment to supporting health & medical practices extends beyond the initial design phase. We provide ongoing support and assistance to ensure that the facility remains conducive to delivering high-quality patient care. Whether it’s addressing maintenance issues, accommodating expansion needs, or implementing feedback-driven improvements, we remain dedicated to the success of our tenants. At Britannia Health Centre, we take pride in our role as more than just property managers—we are partners in the success of each medical practice that leases space within our facility in Calgary, Alberta. How To Avoid Entrepreneurial Burnout: 3 Tips For Staying Sane

May 30, 2022/in Latest News/by admin

burnout (noun): a state of physical or emotional exhaustion caused by long-term stress

Anyone who’s ever started their own business knows that entrepreneurship can be a rollercoaster. There are highs of accomplishing great things and making an impact, and lows of doubt and insecurity. It’s a constant balancing act to keep your energy up while staying focused on your goals. So it’s no surprise that many entrepreneurs find themselves struggling with burnout at some point during their journey.

Michael A. Freeman, a psychiatrist who studied the connection between entrepreneurship and mental health, told Inc. that “People who are on the energetic, motivated, and creative side are both more likely to be entrepreneurial and more likely to have strong emotional states.”

Some warning signs that you may be experiencing entrepreneurial burnout include feeling constantly overwhelmed, feeling like you’re not making progress, struggling to maintain work-life balance, and feeling isolated or unsupported. If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to take a step back and assess what’s going on.

There are many ways to stay sane while growing your business, and here are three of the most efficient:

  1. Take time for yourself. Make sure you schedule regular breaks, even if it’s just 10 minutes every few hours. Take a full day off once a week, and make time for activities that you enjoy outside of work. To help with this, don’t be afraid to refuse opportunities if they also come with more stress than you can handle.
  2. Bring back the fun! Be yourself. Show your goofy side, your nerdy side, or your romantic side. As long as you’re authentic and genuine, people will love you for who you are, which will take away the pressure of always proving your worth.
  3. Don’t ride alone. Every entrepreneur will say this: business can be a lonely journey. But it doesn’t have to! A well designed co-working space can offer you a better context to thrive among other like-minded people that are sharing the journey with you one way or another

Here at Britannia Business Centre we are passionate about bringing amazing people together so our clients get inspired by the collaborative atmosphere which means:

  • productivity increases
  • creativity and innovation increases
  • it’s easier to set healthy boundaries between work and personal life, thus creating a better balance and staying away from burnout.

Wherever you are in your entrepreneurial journey, if signs of burnout are starting to show up, put yourself first! Take care of you because nobody else besides you can grow your business the way you imagined it.

If you want to experience the #britanniavibes by yourself, call or text us to book a tour today!

What’s Coworking Like for Different Personality Types?

January 25, 2022/in Latest News/by admin

Coworking spaces offer creative solutions for businesses, but what is the synergy like in coworking spaces? How do different personalities factor in?

Different Personality Types

In the recent past, the MBTI personality typing has become somewhat of a trend. This talks about the 16 different personality types based on the personality theory created by Isabel Myers together with Katharine Briggs. In a shared office space, there’s a high likelihood of all of these personalities being present—each having different work styles and social skills. Technicalities and specific individual indicators aside, the personalities in any working setup can be more simply classified into introverts, extroverts, and ambiverts.

A Place and Space for Each Type

All of the three personality types previously mentioned can be seen in a shared office space. According to the 2018 Global Coworking Survey, however, almost half are ambiversive (those who identify themselves as a mix of introverted and extroverted), one in three consider themselves as more extroverted, and one in five think of themselves as more introverted. A small percentage of survey participants answered they “don’t know”.

On average, the more introverted individuals work in coworking spaces more regularly compared to the half of both extroverts and ambiverts combined who do. Most of the more introverted individuals are not exactly fans of totally isolated workplaces though, and this makes coworking offices a great option for this facet of their professional needs. Despite all types preferring having some private retreat in shared office spaces, the more introverted ones did rank liking this a little more.

The entrepreneurs who are managing employees tend to fall more often in the extroverted category and they make up an above-average proportion of the survey’s participants. Compared to the introverts who speak to around three other people (in the work setting) in a day, extroverts speak to as much as double, and are more prone to working in shared offices daily compared to introverts and ambiverts. The more extroverted individuals feel more connected to their community and value coworking spaces for the possibilities of interaction, the social atmosphere, and meeting like-minded individuals. They value the knowledge exchange and feel more confident around coworkers who are extroverted as well.

In between are the ambiverts, and the need to network is more prevalent in this group. Similar to the extroverts, they place a high value on the social aspects of shared working spaces, and more surprisingly, majority of them work alone compared to the introverts. However, they still do prefer collaborative work more compared to introverts, and are more adaptive when it comes to changing teams. The ambiverts come into contact with most people in the team, extending their communications to both introverts and extroverts and claim to have more productive workdays in coworking spaces.

A mix of individuals coupled with a space conducive for productivity makes up the wonderful Britannia Vibe we have. With our varied packages and spaces, there is definitely a match for each personality type!

BBC Tenants Spotlight – Lotus Blossom Wellness

October 14, 2021/in Latest News/by admin

Traditional Chinese Medicine by Lotus Blossom Wellness

Coworking spaces are a microcosm of professionals and at Britannia Business Center, we believe in synergy and good vibes all around. Our private offices and flexible workspace solutions coupled with exemplary staff have attracted great tenants who we take pride in taking care of. The workspace packages that we have offer reasonable and agreeable arrangements to different types of tenants from a multitude of industries. Our tenants come from a diverse range including but not limited to the following: finance, insurance, health, fashion, and construction to name a few. With prices and packages that accommodate all budget ranges, we have drawn people from different niches who are experiencing the wonders and benefits of coworking spaces.

Positive atmospheres are more productive and undeniably help people—working or otherwise. This is what we foster at BBC. Testament to the good #BritanniaVibes in our building is the presence of Lotus Blossom Wellness owned by Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor Natalie Jensen. She blends science and spirit by opening Qi which in turn empowers the body, mind, and spirit to heal.

Energy and Balance

A Registered Acupuncturist, Sound Healer, HypnoPuncture (Hypnosis and Acupuncture) practitioner, and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Natalie chose BBC because the energy in the professional building felt great. She started her career in 2004, and is committed to the continuous learning of ancient Chinese healing modalities. When she was looking for what she needed to help her and her clients integrate science and spirituality into their healing journey, the friendly staff at BBC were readily there to support her and cater to the specific factors she was looking for in a private office.

Her professional background and passion for working on mental health, addiction treatment, and overall pain relief has further honed Natalie’s ability to recognize imbalances, and this makes us proud to support her work in helping people achieve balance—physically, mentally, and emotionally. She has shared with us that her recent passion has been combining acupuncture and hypnosis, and assisting her clients with addiction treatment. She believes that the negative effects of ailments affecting individuals do not have to be their reality, and she is here to help. For such endeavors, the right space is essential, and we are glad to provide Natalie with the space conducive for balance and healing.

Lotus Blossom Wellness aims to help their clients regain their health and balance by relieving specific meridians through acupuncture so that they can be free of dis-ease. Acupuncture greatly assists with many different ailments and it is best to discuss with a Registered Acupuncturist such as Natalie in a safe space where there is positive flow.

Flowing in Diversity

We’ve learned from Natalie that in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), our bodies work symbiotically—regulating each state as one through our organ systems. When we recognize or become conscious of our mental health, we notice certain aspects of how we aren’t well and how we’d like to feel better. This resonates with what we believe in at Britannia Business Center; having the right tenants who we vibe with contribute to the overall health of our businesses, thereby improving the positive flow of energy. Right off the bat, Natalie felt the warmth and respect from the BBC staff and we love her passion for helping people on their path to healing.

This symbiotic exchange allows us as a business center to grow with our tenants while they grow their businesses as well. Our shared working spaces not only look great, but feel fresh and energizing to be in. This is not just brought about by the aesthetics or the décor; it’s the chemistry between the tenants and the staff that makes conducting business inside BBC a joy. Our wonderful tenants are never a cause of dis-ease to the #BritanniaVibe and we aim to always provide a healthy and productive positively interconnected professional space.

4 Self-Improvement Tips for Productivity

August 30, 2021/in Latest News/by admin

4 Self-Improvement Tips for Productivity. Saying goodbye to summer and the lovely sunny weather isn’t easy, but with autumn being ushered in, we are presented with a chance to realign ourselves and our work priorities. According to a study conducted by the Harvard Business School, despite the generally overcast weather during fall, people become more focused on work because the summer is already over and distractions from summertime activities are no longer taking up brain space.

September also happens to be the self-improvement month and it would be a great time to integrate some new techniques to be more productive. Instead of the weather getting you down and fogging your mind up, use this time to improve yourself and your habits to be more productive. Here are some tips to try out:

Morning rituals

Not everyone is a morning person, but in a world where eight-to-fives are a thing, being up in the morning matters. Developing a morning ritual you can stick to can help set the wheels in motion and have you geared towards the right direction. You know your day will be packed with things you have to do, so why not make the time to do something for yourself before everything else? Wake up 20 or 30 minutes earlier and brew yourself some tea, read a good book, or exercise for a few minutes. Exercising early in the morning in particular gives your system a natural high on endorphins which bring about a great mood! Find a pleasurable routine to help energize you for the day ahead.

30-day challenges

There is a popular phrase that says, “It takes 21 days to form a habit,” but contrary to that statement, it actually takes 66 days on average! Don’t be discouraged by the numbers and start with an attainable goal. Commit yourself to doing something consistently for a week. Then, make it two weeks… then, a month. This is a good way to compete with or motivate yourself. If routines aren’t your thing, try following a 30-day challenge. There are various resources online that can give you 30-day challenges to eat better, exercise more, declutter, or even improve your mental health through varying pre-set daily activities. This can allow you to know yourself a little more or maybe even discover new hobbies that you can enjoy.

Pomodoro Technique

Having a strong focus isn’t an innate ability. It’s like a muscle you need to train. However, if you find yourself as the kind of person whose attention span or flow just isn’t for a straight session of productive efforts, the Pomodoro Technique can help you out. It is a technique where you complete the work within the time you have rather than working against the “time left”. It works by dividing your day into 25-minute periods, each separated by 5-minute breaks called Pomodoros. After four Pomodoros, you can take longer, 15−20-minute breaks. You can set a timer for your 25-minute intervals and challenge yourself to not be distracted within this period. Knowing you have a 5-minute break coming creates a pleasurable sense of urgency to work towards it. With this technique, you can complete tasks during your worktime window while being rewarded with breaks in small increments throughout the day. Use that 5-minute break to refresh your mind—play if you want to! Being productive doesn’t have to be boring. Use those Pomodoros to invigorate you and help you achieve more.

Adopting a growth mindset

Your perception of failures and success greatly impacts how you go about your day-to-day activities. Instead of beating yourself too much over a mistake, think of it as a lesson to improve and make yourself better. Things aren’t always easy but there is always room to grow. When things get challenging, know that it’s okay to ask for help or direction. In a work environment, this translates to knowing you can’t always do everything by yourself and that there’s always someone who can help you get better at what you do. Co-working spaces and collaborative environments can help foster a healthy growth mindset by finding like-minded people and learning from them.

Take that first step towards self-improvement and be a better version of yourself today!

Benefits of a Coworking Space

July 22, 2021/in Latest News/by admin

Benefits of a Coworking Space. In John Donne’s words, “No man is an island.” Everyone is part of a greater whole and a certain interconnectedness is needed for that greater whole to thrive. Annually on August 9, International Coworking Day is celebrated and it reminds us of the positive impacts of coworking.

Coworking is when professionals who typically work from home or perhaps in isolation share a space with other similar independent professionals. The concept of coworking started back in 1995 but only got on trend around the early 2000’s.

Below are just some of the benefits you may experience when working in coworking spaces:

Increased productivity –

Routine can get boring and stagnating in one place isn’t good for productivity. A change of scenery in a work-related context does wonders for an individual’s drive. Furthermore, the feeling of having other professionals working diligently around you can influence how you flow while working as well. Think of it as kind of a hive mind type of productivity where when you see someone focused on their work, you end up focusing just as hard on yours too.

Creativity boost –

Being exposed to or in the presence of other professionals in different fields may spark new ideas you would not have had otherwise had you been in your normal work setup. Relative to combatting stagnation in your usual workspace, accomplishing your tasks in a shared working space that offers a fresh new work environment gets your mind fired up for more innovative solutions. You may also have the chance to discuss your ideas with other like-minded individuals.

Networking opportunities –

There is a human element in every business, and all of the huge and successful corporations and big names in their respective industries have a web of connections that help them flourish. You never know when you might need a graphic designer or a website master, and you might find that over making a cup of coffee in a shared pantry, you would meet just the right professional you need. Such serendipitous moments can turn out to be a gamechanger for you and your business or operations in the long run. At Britannia Business Center, that cup of coffee is on the house––along with other snacks in our pantry. Stay fueled and feel inspired when you work while experiencing the Britannia vibe.

Cost efficiency –

With the economy still steadily recovering from the impact COVID has had on a global scale, making mindful financial decisions for a business is critical now more than ever. With that in mind, finding cost-effective business solutions that allow teams (big or small) to work collaboratively is a great way to continuously encourage growth while minimizing one’s overhead costs. We offer flexible rates while giving you the kind of workspace your team needs or a place to conduct meetings with prospective clients. With ever increasing rent rates, renting a spot may no longer be the best way for businesses—especially startups or smaller companies. Instead of worrying about rent or owning a building, small business owners can split the costs with other business owners while reaping the benefits of a completely functional office setup.

Flexibility –

Our range of workspace packages allows business owners to make better financial decisions without feeling burdened by the obligations of renting a place as traditional businesses used to. From a per-day payment basis to month-to-month payment schedules, you will find that Britannia Business Center has a package that can work for you. You can choose from private desk setups to coworking spaces, and you can even try the Flex Five package where you or your team can use our fully furnished establishment along with big or small meeting rooms; whichever works west for you. Some days, nothing beats face-to-face collaboration, and this package is a great way to accomplish productive team meetings.

These coworking spaces benefits are within your reach. Book a tour today and experience the creative and collaborative atmosphere at Britannia Business Center.

BBC’s Success as a New Business Center

June 29, 2021/in Latest News/by admin

BBC’s Success as a New Business Center. At BBC, we believe in finding attractive solutions to office needs. There is a surplus of office spaces in Calgary, but this hasn’t stopped us from offering our own business center services.

The Calgary office space market has already had its own challenges and standing out from the crowd especially in the pandemic period was essential to the continuous success of BBC. We had to change how we do things, especially being a small and new business center.

The most important step that contributed—and continuously contributes to our success is our ability to listen to customers and provide what they are looking for. This has allowed us to be small AND mighty. We’ve hit that sweet spot between the big business center model while providing the comforts of an office.

By listening to our customers—our target market—we were able to create and provide them with value that no other business centres can match.

Here are just some of the perks we offer at BBC:

Large office spaces at reasonable prices –

More often than not, a large space means a hefty price tag. The cost of renting out and the longevity of leases are two of the top reasons why businesses are no longer keen on using office space. These factors and concerns surrounding COVID and current market uncertainty adds to harder financial decision making for business owners. Our reasonable prices make it possible for businesses or startups to have a space they can call their own for the amount of time they need it. This allows for a place to hold productive meetings and a space to meet clients while having a professional setting.

Flexible terms –

Long-term commitment to new business owners is a big step. We give them the flexibility they need at a rate that is manageable. With the knowledge that they can terminate should they have to, there’s a greater feeling of ease and not having to worry about the space they are renting for business purposes. We offer you a place where you can carry out your operations without giving you that burdensome feeling of worrying about such a huge permanent decision of owning a space and impacting your finances and decision making.

A fresh and all-encompassing take on office spaces –

You know that they say: “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” It’s important to feel that you have the option and ability to take a nice break from work. You may choose to have a cup of cappuccino (on the house!), or maybe go for a bit of game time in our game room. We also have outdoor and indoor lounge areas for when you want to clear your mind. We understand the importance of having a space—in our case, spaces—to reinvigorate, and we give you that and more. Apart from the options to unwind from the day’s work, we offer free parking and take that worry off of your shoulders as well!

Businesses thrive on a good vibe. When you figure out what the price point is and what amenities you want to give a tenant, providing an energy level that grows but feeds onto itself is critical. Our tenants are amazing, and they, in turn, make us amazing. Our ability to listen to our customers also allows us to offer personalized support, and we do this by having our own team inside the building to assist our tenants with whatever they may need help on. We believe in building personal connections and the value of maintaining that connection that we’ve established. By taking care of our tenants and listening to their needs, we are able to follow through on our dedicated efforts to make our tenants’ entrepreneurial journeys a success.

Not Quite “Work from Home”

May 7, 2021/in Latest News/by admin

Not Quite “Work from Home”. The word “work” doesn’t always come with the best mental associations. Add to that the more recent adjustments professionals worldwide have had to deal with. Working in a non-conventional setup can affect your focus and productivity. When you work from home, there are a LOT of distractions that you didn’t used to deal with, or you end up feeling isolated. Over time, those feelings and factors contributing to them while working from home can really add up and lead to an unhealthy work routine.

While there are individuals who thrive from working alone, it’s an entirely different matter working alone––by yourself, and literally no other people around you. The silence can get numbing and hearing yourself tap away on your keyboard can drive you insane. So how do you have a healthy break from your daily work from home setup while offices are still closed? Enter shared office spaces.

At Britannia Business Center, we take pride in providing our clients with conducive ambience to set the mood for work. Our flexible office spaces are set up in a planned and measured manner to allow a comprehensive range of office sizes, so when you grow and need more desks you can easily upsize to a larger office within the same building.

Teams, big or small, can be in the same space without going to their usual office. You don’t have to feel all alone anymore! You can work with your team and come up with fresh innovative ideas in a brand new environment. We have meeting rooms setup for physical and/or virtual meetings and you don’t have to worry about presenting a professional image to your clients while working away from home and out of the office.

You have the freedom to work where you want to while offices are still closed. We have your back! You can immediately use our business center with NO DEPOSITS other than the first month’s rent too.

To further sweeten the deal, we believe in transparency and have an all-inclusive monthly billing system.

Jumpstart your day with a fresh start, rev that engine and never worry about finding a convenient space to park, as our business center has a free parking and a security team to assist you in finding your spot. You can work with peace of mind knowing our in-house security team is watching over the premises along with CCTV.

Our services and amenities are instantly available to you, and we can have you settle in within 24 hours after your initial tour. Our clean interiors are maintained by an in-house cleaning crew who follows health protocols to ensure you’re in a healthy work environment.

One of our goals is to give you a refreshed feeling. We have breakout area, free Java in our café within the premises, and while you’re only paying for an office space, you get all the benefits of a serviced office environment. No additional charges for the refreshments, IT services, and onsite gym!

If you need help with any of our office basics—scanner, printer, fax machine, you name it—our front desk staff can help you. Our front-of-house and reception team can take your calls for you as well. Have your calls answered by a professional at no extra cost. They work for you and are included in your membership cost. Think of our Business Center team as an extension of your business, adding efficiency to your communications and elevating your brand image.

With our range of packages, you will surely find the right space and budget for you. Our flexible leases can range from 1 month to 15 years. That’s the kind of flexibility you won’t find in a regular office building setup.

Why feel stuck and alone while working from home? At Britannia Business Center, you can get that social work setup from our shared office spaces without having to worry about your health and safety. Oh, and have we mentioned free coffee and a fully stocked kitchen? These little things can add up when you run your own business, but we’ve got you covered, and these are included in your monthly membership bill.

Doing things the same way everyday can feel like a drag—nobody wants that. Here are some ideas to help freshen up your work routine:

  • Sign up for a faster internet connection –

The speed of your internet connection plays a huge role in determining how effective and enjoyable your workday is. A slow connection can stress you out: failed file attachments, video conferences being cut midway… Take those out of the equation. Let the business center provide you with reliable and uninterrupted wi-fi. Conducting your business can be smoother and more efficient when you know you’ve got a stable internet connection!

  • A new workspace –

Out with the old, in with the new! It’s like taking a vacation. Working in the same environment everyday can get old after a while. Sure, you can go for redecoration, but would that be practical? Why not consider co-working spaces or flexible office solutions. Britannia Business Center might just be the solution you need. We have fully-functional meeting rooms which can accommodate groups of people. Instead of refurbishing your office, get in touch with us so we can find the right set up for you and your business needs. Our fresh interiors and crisp aesthetics will help you feel like a brand new professional ready to conquer any workday.

  • Network –

Ever heard the phrase, “it’s who you know”? Co-working spaces allow you to expand your circle and make those connections outside of your bubble. The right combination of talents and expertise can help bolster your business to new heights. Have your business cards ready and keep your lines open. You never know, the next face you meet might be the professional you’ve been waiting for. Spread word about your business and watch your opportunities grow.

  • Recreational space –

The saying, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,” IS true. The monotony of doing a task can and will get in in the way of creativity at some point. This is why having a space to unwind––yes, even in the middle of a workday—can help recharge your batteries. Today’s workspaces have lounges for their employees where the mood is entirely different from the rest of the office building. This serves the purposes of breaking that lull which can build up throughout the day. Even just for a few minutes, being able to go somewhere where it feels like one can take a breather can help break that monotonous work feeling. Don’t undermine the importance of a healthy break away from your daily operations.

Britannia Business Center can help! Imagine a place where you can have faster internet connection to help you conduct those important meetings and somewhere you can experience a game room to help liven up your mood. We can provide you with that new workspace you and your team can work in—you might even be able to meet a different team of professionals in our outdoor shared space to do some networking.

Take this chance to jumpstart your second quarter and try these new ways to work for 2021. Call us today, so we can customize co-working solutions for you and your team. Be ready to come up with a wave of innovative ideas and inspired business decisions fostered by the #britanniavibe our office spaces will give you.
